What's hot at Amazon Camera & Photo?

Let's take a look at what's hot right now in the Amazon Camera and Photo department!

DSLR Deals
How about the Olympus E410 with the 14-42 lens for just $495, sold and shipped by Amazon?

Another bang for the buck DSLR, especially if you have a boatload of K-mount lenses, is the Pentax K100D Super for just $357, after a $100 mail-in Pentax rebate. If you don't object to six megapixels that is. But we are talking about a solid DSLR at that price!

Meanwhile the 10mp Sony A100 with the 18-70 DT lens is currently available for $640.

If you are feeling retro, the Canon EOS Rebel K2 35mm SLR Camera with EF 28 to 90mm II USM Lens is down to $192. Film not included. This is a film SLR!

The Nikon 18-200 DX VR lens is one of the most talked about lenses of the year, so it's not surprise that Cameta Cameras has created a $700 bundle built around this lens. What do you get? Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED-IF AF-S VR [Vibration Reduction] DX Lens + Hoya 72mm UV Haze Protector Glass Filter + CapKeeper Lens Cap Strap + 6-Piece Cleaning Kit - for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras including Nikon D40, D40x, D50, D70, D70s, D80, D100, D200 & D300.

More from Nikon and Cameta, the Nikon D40x body only is down to $550. This is the 10mp version, but keep in mind that the D40 and D40x are limited in their use of older lenses.

Canon says STOP the PRESSES! We have a sub-$500 DSLR too! The Canon Digital Rebel XT, aka 350D, body only, black is now just $416. That's right, you can get a Digital Rebel for a low low price of close to $400!

Advanced non-DSLRs
The big Fuji S9100 is available through Beach Camera for $380.

Kodak's top superzoom is the Kodak Z812 IS for $242 or so. Top because Kodak hasn't released a new P-series camera in 2007. If you prefer RAW, the Panasonic FZ8 is down to $254. This is a mature camera as the
Panasonic FZ-series has grown over time.

Ultracompact and $200+ compact deals!
The lovely Olympus 790SW has taken a holiday shopping season price cut to lure in more buyers. Currently offered for $270 through J&R World.

The weatherproof hybrid camera/camcorder Sanyo Xacti VPC-E1 6MP Waterproof MPEG4 is now down to $395 if you are interested in a hybrid.

The 12mp Panasonic FX100 silver is down to $320. Assuming you don't object to the Venus engine and the Panasonic sensors.

If you like the style of the Canon SD40 and don't object to its age, you can get it for just $150 through J&R World.

If you like folded optics and don't mind the compromises, the Pentax Z10 is down to $221. This camera is similar to the Casio EX-V series, which did not exactly get glowing reviews. But it is not unreasonable to have compromises when you use 7x folded optics zoom internal zoom lens.

Another nice price is the Panasonic FX30 at $200 even through J&R World.

Fans of the Pentax A-series can get the Pentax A30 for $205 thru Beach camera.

The sleek looking Fuji Z10fd is around $150, and avialable in various fashionably trendy colors.

Compact low-priced digital camera deals
If you want a piece of HP cameras history, the very basic HP E337 is just $70. Or for a bit less basic camera, the HP M637 is down to just $119 and the HP M547 for $105. Or if you prefer a 6x optical zoom lens, the HP Mz67 is now $148 through Beach Camera.

Kodak has its own super low priced entry-level, the Kodak M753 for $118. Although the 5mp Kodak C513 with a CMOS sensor is even less, around $80 or less.

The Samsung L830 is a typical P&S with a $165 price tag.

Another nice bang for the buck is the Panasonic LZ6 for $138, and it has a 6x MegaOIS lens!

Another value packed camera at $150 through J&R World is the Kodak V803 which uses a 1/1.8" 8mp sensor.

Accessories
Leica fans, show your Leica'ness with this Leica Brown Classic Leather Case for the D-Lux 3 Compact Digital Camera for around $120 from 3rd party sellers.

For everybody else, you could spend 1/10th of that, with the LOWEPRO Digital Camera Bag REZO 15 at $12.

If you have a Digital Rebel, $51 will get you a Canon EH-18L Semi-Hard Case for the EOS Digital Rebel XT/XTi Camera.

Okay, enough with bags, how about the Canon EOS 5D 12.8 MP Digital SLR Camera with EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM Lens for $2950? Yes, a full frame Canon DSLR with a solid L-series IS USM lens for under $3000!

If you want to take a chance on Samsungs, the Samsung L830 is $166, and if you want to take a chance on GE cameras, the GE A730 is $92.

Meanwhile the Pentax A30 is down to $205 through Adorama. And if you were waiting for the Pentax A40, you have to wait until February 2008, because a fire at a Matsushita factory had delayed the delivery of LiIon batteries for this Pentax model. (Some could point out the benefit of using AA batteries, because if it was using AA batteries, they wouldn't have to wait, and they could have released it right away).

Then for $275 you can get the Samsung NV11 through J&R World. The NV11 has a 5x optical zoom lens and a 10mp sensor.

The lovely Fuji Z10fd is around $150, and available in multiple delicious colors. But please don't eat the cameras, even if it looks delicious or it is named chocolate!

Rebel Rebel for under $450! The Canon Digital Rebel XT body only, black finish, can be yours for $424, sold and shipped by Amazon. Of course this is the previous model, the 350D, not the newer model the XTi (aka 400D).

And how about a film SLR from Canon? Canon EOS Rebel K2 35mm SLR Camera with EF 28 to 90mm II USM Lens for just $192. But you need to keep buying and developing a strange thing called film in order to take pictures!

If you prefer affordable hybrids, the Sony NSCGC1 Net-Sharing 5MP CMOS MPEG4 Camcorder is $150 through CompUSA. If you prefer a waterproof and more stylish and advanced hybrid, the Sanyo Xacti VPC-E1 6MP Waterproof MPEG4 Camcorder with 5x Optical is $400. By hybrid of course we are referring to hybrid camera and camcorder, not a hybrid car :)

Internet Exploder users, the link won't work for you. Visit Amazon.com and search for the model names mentioned above.

Let's see what this wave of specials at J&R World brings us!

Ritz Online goes crazy - they offer a 20% cashback for PayPal payments!

Ritz Online goes crazy on this Cyber Monday - they offer a 20% cashback for PayPal payments! If you make your payment with PayPal, they will send you 20% back! This offers expires December 10, 2007. RitzOnline pays all sales taxes and they offer free shipping for most items over $100 according to their email.

This offer has limitations however. The maximum you can receive in cashback per PayPal account is $50. Which means a total purchase of $250. If you purchase more than $250, your cashback will be limited to a flat $50.

However, this may still be a good deal, for a $500 purchase you would have a net payment of $450, a 10% discount if you like. The more you pay, the lower the effective percentage of this promotion.

Please keep in mind that buying from Ritz Online is different from buying at a Ritz Store. Unlike Circuit City or Best Buy where you can exchange or buy-online-pickup-at-the-store, you cannot do that with online Ritz/Wolf purchases!

Just because Black Friday is over, it doesn't mean the deals do not keep on rolling

Hey, that sounds a bit like Johnny Cash! The Panasonic FX30 taupe (color) is probably not a camera that matches Johnny Cash's trademark outfit, but it can be yours for $200 through J&R World on Amazon.

Let's see what else might be of interest on Amazon today!

Prosumers and DSLRs
The original Ricoh GRD is now down to $500 through Adorama. The Olympus E410 with the two lens kit is now tempting everyone at $550, while its bigger camera brother the Olympus E510 with the two lens kit is $650. Just a few hours ago, dpreview posted a review of the Olympus E510.

Cameta's giant bundle of the day for $825 includes Nikon D40x 10.2MP Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm AF-S DX Nikkor Lens Outfit + Nikon 55-200mm ED AF-S Lens + Transcend 2GB 150x SecureDigital Card + High Speed USB 2.0 Card Reader + Nikon SLR Gadget Bag. And you are almost ready to go with this kit!

Compact and Ultracompact digital cameras
The Kodak V1233 is $210 as a pre-order, while the Panasonic L1 is tempting at $1115 with the Leica MegaOIS 15-40 lens.

The bang for the buck Canon A570IS is $155, while the Kodak V803 is $160. For even less at $110, you can get the Pentax E30 through Beach Camera.

The Samsung NV3 looks tempting at $190 through Adorama and so does the Olympus FE240 at $150 thru J&R World. At $100 even, we have a $100 Canon Camera Deal, the Canon A430, also through J&R World. Although personally I recommend getting the Canon A560 or Canon A570IS instead if there is budget flexibility.

A few more sales at Amazon

If you are not burnt out of Black Friday deals and such, here are a few more deals...

The Olympus FE240 is $150, while the Olympus Stylus 760 goes for $184. At about the same price ($180) you can get the Sony W80.

Just eight dollars will get you the Case Logic TBC-3 Camera Bag.

If you like megapixels by the pound, the Kodak V1233 is $210 as a pre-order. Imagine how much less it will be when it actually gets released :)

And a giant bundle from Cameta Camera for $675: Nikon D40x 10.2MP Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm AF-S DX Nikkor Lens Outfit + Transcend 4GB 150x SecureDigital Card + High Speed USB 2.0 Card Reader + Nikon SLR Gadget Bag.

More DSLRs, the Panasonic L1 with the 14-50 Leica MegaOIS is $1115, sold and shipped by Amazon herself.

The pre-orders are coming in fast for the Sony T2 which is good news for Sony as it may open up its line-up to tradionally non-Sony fans.

The Fuji E900 has made a comeback at $210 but I'm not familiar with the seller (Globazar). Also from Fuji, sold and shipped by Amazon at $150 is the Fuji Z5fd which is a nice buy if you are not allergic to xD memory cards. If you are, take a look at the new Fuji Z10fd which sells for about the same price and accepts SD memory cards, but does not have a SuperCCDe sensor - which is not a big deal at the 1/2.5" sensor size.

The Samsung L73 looks tempting at $107 for those who want to "try out" the Samsung cameras.

PS> Internet Explorer users go to Amazon.com and search for the above model numbers. The links don't work for IE.

Black Friday deals at Fry's Electronics stores

Obviously I have no way of knowing what is available in-store or not, but here is what they advertised:

The lovely Canon S5 IS superzoom is listed at $350, while the Canon A560 at $137. Casio's cutie, the EX-Z77 is $227 and the price includes a bonus kit with 1gb SD card, carry case and ...editing software.

But perhaps the biggest deal is the Olympus E410, body only for $450, or with the two lens kit for $650. 12 months no interest special financing promotion as well.

A 7" digital photo frame of unspecified origin goes for $77, an American Idol digital picture keychain for $13, and a digital photo keychain wihtout any idols for $10. A 9" mystery digital picture frame goes for $47. It includes an alarm clock, 4-in-1 card reader, mp3 and mp4 playback, calendar, etc. One per customer, no rebates.

Speaking of no-name, you can get a 7mp 3x 2.5" LCD noname camera and a 7" noname digital photo frame for $97. By no-name I mean the brand name is not specified in the ad :)

Sony's hybrid mpeg4 video camcorder is $137.

Also, the Panasonic FX12 is just $117. Nice price! The Sony S650 or S700 is $77, the Olympus FE300 for $177 (12 megapixel).

All these are only good for today (Black Friday).

What are the hottest Canon digital cameras at Amazon?

Let's see what are the top selling Canon digital cameras at Amazon.com. We will break them down by sub-category!

Two cameras that are great for starters who also want to learn more along the way are the Canon A560 and Canon A570IS. The A560 goes for $130 while the A570-IS for $150. Both are nice prices, probably not a bad idea to pay an extra $20 to get the model with the optical image stabilization lens! If a 4x zoom ratio is a bit too small for you, the Canon A720 IS costs $197 and features an 6x IS lens for $197. This is a 2007 model, and made for the big chain stores.

If you prefer a smaller and more stylish camera, the lowest price and more popular model is the Canon SD1000 for just $180. A nice price for a nice small carry-everywhere camera. Obviously don't expect DSLR performance from a tiny camera with a 1/2.5" sensor!

SD1000's big brother is the Canon SD850 IS for $255 or so. This includes a 4x IS lens and is a reasonable trade-off for the price. If instead you want your compact camera to start at 28mm wide, you can get the Canon SD800 IS for $250. Another good choice. There's also a newer model starting at 28mm wide, the Canon SD870 IS for $300 even.

The top selling Canon DSLR is obviously the Canon Digital Rebel XTi, which goes for around $660, including the 18-55 EF-S kit lens. If you prefer the previous model, it's closer to $500, and has 8mp instead of 10mp.

The only Canon non-DSLR with RAW is the Canon G9. While this camera bears the storied G-series name, it is more of a lightweight G-series camera. But don't let that dissuade you from this camera. It stands on its own two feet quite well. The current price is $430, not a bad price at all.

Another great bargain for Canon and long zoom fans is the Canon S5 IS for just $343. This camera started out at $500, but because the long zoom market is exteremely competitive the prices have gone down significantly, which is a big gain for the buyers in some ways!

    New deals from OneCall.com

OneCall.com introduces their holiday shopping season coupon, with savings ranging from $25 to $500, depending on your purchase price. See all the coupon details here.

If you do not object to a slightly older camera, for $170 you can get a relatively nice deal, the Panasonic FX01 pink with shipping and handling at $12. For more details on this camera, be sure to check the camera page at dcviews.com. There you will find the press release of its announcement, along with links to five reviews from major photography review sites.

In other electronics products, the Sharp Aquos LC-32GP1U 32" 1080p LCD HDTV can be yours for $1170. You can save an additional $50 by using the holiday season coupon. If you prefer a slightly larger LCD HDTV, the 37" Sharp LC-37GP1U can be yours for $1440 minus $50 in coupon savings. Both HDTVs include 3-day free FedEx shipping.

EyeFi Wireless 2gb SD card $100 from J&R World

If you find the convenience of a WiFi memory card invaluable, then perhaps you can justify getting the Eye-Fi Wireless 2GB SD Memory Card for $100. This memory card was recently reviewed at dpreview.com.

And while you are waiting for your WiFi card to unload, you can listen to your favorite tunes or watch your favorite videos or sort through your photo viewer using the 30gb Microsoft Zune Media Player for just $100. Providing you are not allergic to Microsoft :-)

If you are a video enthusiast and you have lots of VHS, VHS-C, miniDV and other video content on analog media, you might be interested in using this Philips DVDR3575H/37 DVD Recorder with Hard Drive for $300 to do so. Stand-alone DVD recorders with hard drives are a rare item these days because of the popularity of TiVo and the low rental prices of Cable and Satellite DVRs.

Camera deals at Best Buy (Sunday thru Wednesday only)

You don't have to wait until Black Friday to get some camera deals at decent prices at Best Buy. Obviously you can't expect brick and mortar to out-do the biggest online discounters, but some of them may come close.

On the front page of the Best Buy weekly circular is the red Kodak M883 for $150. There are a minimum of 24 units per store, but no rainchecks. This is an 8mp 1/2.5" camera, and red is apparently a Best Buy exclusive color.

Meanwhile the Nikon D40x "whole enchilada" package is available for $800. This include the Nikon D40x, the 18-55 DX and 55-200 DX lenses, and an accessory kit that includes a Nikon bag, Nikon battery, and Nikon training DVD.

Next up we have a $100 camera, the Nikon Coolpix L11. This is your typical 6mp, 3x optical, 2.4" LCD, AA based camera.

For exactly twice as much you can get the Olympus Stylus 820 in the exclusive Best Buy Navy Blue color. Please keep in mind though that this one does not have stabilization, while model Stylus 830 does.

With image stabilization, and with a lens that starts at 28mm, the Canon SD870IS is waiting for you at $320. This is a new model and has a 3" LCD.

Meanwhile Sony offers a bundle, the W90 black with a Sony accessory kit that includes a spare battery and Sony case for the combined price of $260.

The digital picture frames are getting bigger as LCD prices drop, and a 10" Westinghouse DPF-1021 can be yours for $150.

If you want a backup or extra tripod, the Sunpak 52" Platinum Plus tripod is just $10, model 620-520BB. Yes, just $10! And while the ad says "buy with confidence", please adjust your expectations. Don't expect this to behave like a $100 tripod :)

Memory cards are at expected price ranges, a 2gb PNY for $20, 4gb Sandisk SDHC for $40, 1gb Fuji xD $25, 4gb Sony Memorystick pro duo $60. And for additional backup of your data while on the go, the 4gb Sandisk USB2.0 flash drive is $35.

Not a camera, but you can use it to view and showcase your pictures, a 26" Insignia 720p LCD HDTV for just $380. That's right three hundred and eighty. The model name is NS-LCD26. Insignia is a brand name used by Best Buy, obviously not manufactured by Best Buy.

One more thing, Best Buy's ad says that gifts can be excahnged or returned until January 31, 2008, regardless of when they were purchase. See their terms and conditions for more details.

You don't have to wait for Black Friday for these deals!

While there's more stuff coming on Black Friday, a number of retailers are also offering specials right now. Are there any good stuff? Let's take a look!

The Panasonic FX55 is available in pink, black or silver from OneCall for the price of $280 with S&H around $12. The FX55 is Panasonic's flagship 1/2.5" FX-series model with a 28-100mm MegaOIS lens.

But if you want to spend less and get a slightly older camera, you can do that too with the Panasonic FX01 pink for $165 and S&H of around $12.

From OneCall.com we have three high definition television sets that include free shipping. There's a 1080p LCD TV from LG for $1100, the 37" LG 37LB5D for $1100. Plasma fans, you can have the 58" Panasonic Viera TH-58PZ700U 1080p plasma HDTV for $3300. If you prefer the big space-(h)eaters, the rear projection HDTVs, the Sony 60" Bravia A-series 1080p KDS-60A3000 can be yours for $1800. The debate of course continues to rage on, plasma, LCD or rear projection? The answer? It's up to you!

Crutchfield has sent out an email informing people on their mailing list that they are having a Customer Appreciation Week, thanking their customers with over 750 on special, a number of which qualify for free shipping. They also have special financing on Audio/Video purchases over $750 (12 months, no paymetns, no interest).

Meanwhile, the Black Friday DVD sale has already started at J&R World:

    J&R Computer/Music World

From the world of brick and mortar, the new Kodak Easyshare C513, the one that uses a CMOS sensor, is on sale at Walgreens for $70 after a $20 mail-in rebate. Yes, seventy dollars, it is not a typo. And yes, Walgreens the drug store chain. Everybody's selling cameras these days! In a couple of years you'll get a free camera with your burger combo :)

Last but not least, for the musically inclined, the Microsoft Zune 30GB Digital Multimedia Device (Brown) is now down to $120 with free shipping. The Zune in question is an audio and video player, photo viewer, with an FM Tuner and an 3" LCD among other things.

Camera and photo movers and shakers at Amazon

With Black Friday just around the corner, let's see what early specials we have moving on up at Amazon.

Camera and photo deals at Amazon right now

You may laugh or cry when you see this one, but the Kodak Plus Digital One-Time-Use Camera is available for $9 through Adorama.

A new in box Canon camera for $100 you ask? Yes sir! The Canon A430, an older camera, is available for $100 through J&R World.

Pentax fans, $20 will get you a Pentax PTX-L105 3-In-1 Neoprene Case for Pentax Digital Cameras.

Long zoom fans, the Panasonic FZ18, black finish, is down to $342. Be sure to check the recent dpreview review on this camera to see if its trade offs are something you are okay with or not.

If you have 4/3rds lenses, or OM lenses with a 4/3rds adapter, and you want to spend as little as possible, the Olympus E330 is offered for $330, body only, through Cameta Camera. But if you must not have the E330, then consider the newer Olympus E410.

And now to the giant bundle of the day from Cameta for $950: Canon Digital Rebel XTi 10.1MP Digital SLR Camera (Black) + Canon EF-S 18-55mm Lens [Outfit] + Canon EF 75-300mm III Lens + Transcend 4GB 120X CompactFlash Card + High Speed USB 2.0 CompactFlash (CF) Card Reader + Spare Replacement Battery for Canon NB-2LH + Deluxe SLR System Camera Bag. On the affordable side of things, the Kodak V803 is $150 through J&R World. And for almost half of that, the ancient HP E337 is just $80 but with a two to four week shipping delay. Not sure why you would want to buy it though :) A more reasonable price trade off is perhaps the Panasonic LS75 with MegaOIS for $122. Also in this price range, at $150 thru J&R World you can get the Olympus FE 240.

If you have a Pentax K10D and need an extra battery or two, the Pentax D-LI50 Lithium-ion Battery is just $39 waiting for you.

    Panasonic FX-series specials at OneCall.com

The good people at OneCall.com has some nice specials on a couple of Panasonic Lumix FX-series digital cameras! Both of these models feature a 28-100mm equivalent lens with MegaOIS image stabilization, LiIon battery, SD card and such.

The Panasonic LUMIX FX55K (black) is available for $280 plus $13 S&H. Also available is the pink version of the Lumix FX55 (aka FX55P) for the same price.

If you don't mind a slightly older camera, at a very nice discount, they have the Panasonic FX01P (pink color) for $165 and $12 S&H.

If you are not familiar with these cameras be sure to check their specs and reviews at the usual places, such as dpreview and dcviews.

Analyzing the Circuit City Black Friday camera and photo Deals

The best source for all the Black Friday deals is GottaDeal.com. There you will find detailed information on all the products offered by the major stores on Black Friday. Since there's so much stuff out there, it can be overwhelming, so here we will be analyzing the camera and photo deals offered by Circuit City. Complete details of their ad at GottaDeal.com.

Let's see what cameras we have. Be sure to check for camera reviews, sample pictures and user reviews well ahead of Black Friday. If you have a list of five cameras you have your eyes set on, do your homework before Friday. As a last resort, while digesting the big Thanksgiving meal, and looking for an excuse to avoid the relative that never stops talking, grab the laptop and start reading through camera reviews :)

But remember, retail stores usually have higher prices than online discount retailers, so you should be comparing with other retail stores, not the online discounters. Otherwise, you can just get them online.

    Bargain Alerts!
What is probably a nice bargain regardless of retailer location is the Casio EX-Z75 red at $140. This is yet another one of Casio's cuties, with the samller 1/2.5" sensor. Nice price!

The Sony S700 will be available for $100. This is a very nice price for a Sony camera, assuming you can stomach the use of a Memory Stick Pro Duo. If you are a Sony fan, go for it!

Fuji's film rival, Kodak is offering a camera with a printer dock bundled all together for $130. Entry level bargain alert!. This is good for people who are just starting out and want to be able to print at home from the camera without hassle. Needless to say this is a very basic camera and you do have to buy Kodak inks and papers, which is perhaps the purpose of this camera/dock bundle :) The camera is the 6mp, 3x optical Easyshare C633 and the dock is the G610.

The Olympus FE-280 will go for $130, which is not a bad price at all for this camera. Of course buying this means you have to buy xD memory cards which are only used in Olympus and Fuji digital cameras and nothing else (other than memory card reader drives, stand-alone or embedded in computers, printers, photo kiosks, etc). Plus Olympus has the obnoxious requirement that you use an Olympus branded memory card if you want to use the in-camera Panorama feature. Of course there is a simple workaround to that to make every memory card brand compatible but this is a horrible PR move by Olympus. Compounded by the xD memory card oblivion, this is for Olympus fans only! If you are not an Olympus fan, look elsewhere :)

    Okay prices
The Casio EX-Z1050 will be offered at $200. This camera got a very positive review at dcresource a couple of months ago. You can certainly not go wrong with this price.

The Canon A720 IS will be offered at $210. This is a new 2007 model that was offered at a starting price of $250. This was intended to be a darling camera of the big box retailers because it has a lot of features and a very nice price. You can already get this camera for $198 at Amazon right now.

Fuji offers the A900 for $130. Not a bad price for retail, but the camera is $136 now at Amazon, and be sure to read its reviews. Even though it uses a Fuji SuperCCD sensor, it's not a bed of roses!

The Nikon S51 pink is $200. A nice looking folded optics bijou subcompact has the looks. But be sure to check for reviews. Usually cameras with folded optics have some trade-offs in terms of optical quality.

At $230, the Sony T20 is not a bad price, but nothing to line-up in the cold for either. But if you are going in anyways for another reason, and you are a Sony fan, go ahead and get it.

    Nothing to write home about
There's a 10mp Canon DSLR with a lens advertised for $880. No details are given. We are not sure which DSLR that is. It could be the Digital Rebel XTi (400D) or the Canon 40D. If it's the Digital Rebel XTi, that's a horrible deal, you can already get the Rebel at under $700 at most internet retailers. If it's the Canon 40D, it won't be because this camera just came out and sells for $1400. Not happening! There are no other 10mp Canon DSLRs. Unless of course the lens included is not the standard 18-55 EF-S lens, but something else?

Disappointing is that the Panasonic "fun zoom" TZ-3 will be offered at $250. This is a fun camera, but this is hardly a good price. Circuit City offers it at $250 right now! Boooo!

Also disappointing is that the Nikon D40 with the two-lens kit bundle will be offered at $650. The current Circuit City price is $680, and the reputable online photo dealers sell it for around $650 right now. Much ado about nothing I'm afraid.

Please keep in mind these are "rumors", not official, according to the list at GottaDeal.com. Check all the Black Friday deals at GottaDeal.com.

From that long list, we take a look at what is of interest to digital camera users. Are there any deals worth the suffering and the anguish of Black Friday shopping?

DSLR wise, the Canon Digital Rebel 350D XT with the kit lens and some acessories are $700. I don't know what accessories they are going to include, but that doesn't sound too exciting. Remember, the XT (350D) is not the latest D-Rebel. The XTi (400D) is the 10 megapixel Rebel. Not that megapixels really matter that much.

If you love cutesy Elphs with 3" LCDs, the Canon SD750 at $220, which I guess is a good price for brick and mortar, but it currently sells for $210 at Amazon.

The very stylish Fuji Z5fd, pink color (Breast Cancer model) is $140. This is a nice deal for brick and mortar. The current Amazon price is around $150, depending on color. But whether the extra $10 or $20 in savings are worth the hassle it is up to you. This is an ideal deal if you are already going to Best Buy regardless, or you have your eyes set on something else. Be advised though, this one uses the xD memory card only and it is a slightly older model.

Kodak fans will be thrilled with two nice deals, the Kodak Z712 IS for $190, yes folks, an IS-based 12x zoom for under $200, and the basic C613 with a 5.6" digital photo frame for $100. Both are nice deals. The Z712I goes for around $220 on Amazon.

Nikon fans just get the navy color version of the Coolpix S51 at $200.

Software wise, the Adobe Elements 6 bundled with Premiere 4 (video) are $90. Worth it?

Memory card wise, a 4gb PNY SDHC card will be $28. Not bad if you are a fan of the PNY brand of memory cards! Sandisk has a number of memory related product, the most interesting appears to be a 4gb Memory Stick Pro Duo for *gasp* $35. A memory stick for under $10 per gigabyte? Sony fans, this is for you because there are no Sony digital cameras advertised for Black Friday.

For all the details on these, and all the other crazy doorbusting Black Friday deals be sure to visit GottaDeal.com. But don't blame me (or them) if you spend too much money on Black Friday :)

    Late night at Amazon

It may be an old camera model, it may be more bijou and cute than really functional or practical, but the Minox Digital Classic Leica M3 at $114 through Adorama is moving up the sellers list at Amazon.

The Samsung i85, red, continues to be moving units at $285.

The two-lens kit of the Olympus E410 is available at $670 and as with all Olympus two lens kits, it is the best bang for the buck - assuming you have some use or purpose for those two lenses :)

The Panasonic FX55 is at $291, and under $300 is a price people like to see and pay.

Sony fans into aquatics and watery stuff will be interested in the Sony MPK-THD Marine Pack T Series for $145.

The NV-series model that started it all, the Samsung NV10 is currently $229 from Beach Camera, which also offers the Nikon S6 at $200.

The Kodak V803 looks nice at just $143, as it has a 1/1.8" 8mp sensor. Also nice, if you don't object to the xD card is the Fuji Z5fd in various colors for around $150. Including pink and chocolate brown!

Another camera that is becoming a really nice bargain is the Panasonic FZ50 at around $430. Not bad for what it offers! But be sure to read the reviews too.

Digital camera deals at Circuit city this week

Let's see what this week's Circuit City Circular has in-store for us!

    Sony Days
Right on the front page of the circular we spot the Sony W80 advertised for $200 flat. Also from Sony, the S700 is down to $140. This has QVGA movie mode, but what can you expect at this price range for a Sony branded camera? :) At $250, the Sony W90 black is available. The new slimmer Sony W-series has certailny been a hit with consumers and helped Sony's finances too.

Sony's entry in the "fun zoom" market is the H3, and the H3 is on sale for $280. Not bad, eh? And if you want to print on Sonys, the DPPFF90 photo printer is $170 and promises lab quality color prints quickly and easily. Not my promise, Sony's :)

And to feed your new Sony cameras, the 4gb Sandisk Memory Stick Pro Duo blah blah blah is $60, model SD MSPD 4096 A50. The 2gb version is $35, model SD MSPD 2048 A11.

    Everyone else
It was only a couple of weeks ago that the Samsung S73 showed up in stores and it already has its first price cut, now available at $120 and in shrink-wrap. This comes in multiple colors and Circuit City claims exclusivity on the lime green color.

Casio wants you to buy the EX-Z77 which is probably why they are offering a free kit that includes a case, battery charger, mini tripod and software. The whole enchilada costs $230.

Kodak has a bundle of their own, the C813 digital camera with the G610 printer dock for $200. Not bad for an absolute beginner, they get both a camera and a printer and a dock in one package. Also from Kodak, an affordable stabilized long zoom at $230, we are talking of course about the Z712-IS.

Canon offers their mass market Elph SD1000 at $180, and their Digital Rebel 400D XTi with the 18-55 EF-S kit lens for $800 even. If you purchase it with the EF 75-300 lens, you save an extra $100. The lens itself costs $230 and it is a 35mm full frame lens.

And some memory cards of note, 4gb Sandisk SD SDBR 4096 A10 for $45 (free reader included). A 2gb Ultra II from Sandisk is $30, model SD SDPH 2048 901. For CF users, the Sandisk 4gb Ultra II, SD CFH 4096 901 costs $60, and the 2gb Extreme II, SD CFX3 2048 901 costs $45.

Finally for xD users, the Olympus 2gb Type M is $40, and the 2gb is $25.

And a couple of digitla photo frame,s the 7" Element EDPF7AWE is $60 after a $20 MIR, while the 7" HP F750 with three interchangeable face plates is $140. And the 8" SmnartParts SP8MIX is $100 after a $50 mail in rebate, and has wood and leather frames. That's all for now!

Longs Drugs advertises more Camera and Photo items

It looks like Longs Drugs is emerging as the drugstore with the more camera and photo interest this holiday shopping season.

Their latest weekly ad found in the Sunday papers and in their stores has the following items of interest listed: Fuji A900 with a free 1gb Sandisk SD card for $190 with coupon. The coupon is included in their weekly circular ad and you can get it at the store or from your Sunday paper.

Also, the Olympus Stylus 760 is advertised at $230, a 2gb Sandisk SD card for $30.

For quick local printing, they have on-going price of 19c for 4x6 prints. This you can do online by uploading them and chosing the pickup store of your choice, or by going in-store with your memory card or CD or camera. The nice thing about this price is that it has no limits, no prerequisites and no coupons!

Also at Longs, the sexy looking and brand new Fuji Finepix Z10fd is available. Drugstores usually don't carry brand new models so this is indeed an interesting development.

    Film fans
And for those who use film, 35mm film that is, they offer standard processing of 4x6 35mm 24 exp plus a photo CD for $6 each.

And a couple of disposable film cameras, the Fuji QuickSnap 400 Flash is $8, while the Fuji QuickSnap Flash XTRA 1000 is $6.

Quick look at Amazon's movers and shakers

Let's have a quick look at Amazon. What's shaking there?

Love the Zeiss brand? The ZEISS 523020 10x30B MC Diafun are offered through Adorama for $400. These are binoculars, not digital cameras, but they are optics after all :)

Love the Leica and Minox brands and want a truly bijou camera? The Minox Digital Classic Leica M3 is on big sale from Adorama for $115. Don't expect this to perform like a Leica though :)

More Leica, the Panasonic L1 DSLR with the 14-50 MegaOIS Leica lens is on sale through Adorama for $1100.

Samsung's new sexy red 5x folded optics camera is on the move! The Samsung i85 red color is on sale for $275.

If you want to give film cameras some love, the legendary NIKON FM10 35mm Camera Kit is $250 through Adorama.

And we have our daily Cameta giant bundle, this one for $740: Canon Digital Rebel XTi 10.1MP Digital SLR Camera Body (Black) + Tamron 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens + Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di LD Lens.

PS> Internet Explorer users may have trouble with the dynamically generated links. If so, please search for the product name in the Amazon page.

    Saturday, November 10, 2007

    J&R World specials: Samsung L73 for $120, Canon SD40 for $160

We have two specials from J&R World at irressistably low prices! The Samsung L73 black for just $120and the Canon SD40 gray for $160. Even more so, the Canon SD40 includes a free 512mb PNY SD memory card until 11/11/2007. Shipping is extra.

Movers and shakers at Amazon on Saturday

WE started with a super bundle from Cameta Camera for $830: Sony Alpha A100 10.2MP Digital SLR Camera Kit + Tamron 28-80mm AF Lens + Tamron 70-300mm Di AF Lens + Transcend 2GB 120X CompactFlash Card + USB Card Reader + Spare Replacement Battery for Sony NP-FM55H + Deluxe SLR Gadget Bag.

A multi-color Olympus Stylus 760 is $160 or so, while the new Olympus Stylus 820 is $216. Please keep in mind that this one does not have stabilization, but the 830 model does.

The pre-orders for the new Sony Cybershot DSC-T2 are heating up at $350. This will be an interesting test of the market as we get a major camera model with a 4gb on-board memory. Especially since a number of people have an avoid-relationship with Memory Sticks.

The Casio EX S770 is $219 via Beach Camera, while the Nikon Action 16x50 EX ATB Binocular is $169. A bigger sensor is your wish, then the brand new Casio EX Z1080 pink is $217 only!

A colorful bargain basement camera is the Canon A430, red finish, $100 via Adorama. A $100 camera deal!.

Very stylish is the Fuji Z5fd, in chocolate brown. If you don't object to the xD memory cards, it can be yours for just $150!

If you like rangefinder-ish and RAW, the Panasonic LX2 is $340. More style but no RAW from the Samsung NV15 at $228.

If you are a Nikon user, for $90 you can travel in Nikon style, with the Nikon Backpack for DSLR, Lenses, and Laptop for $90.

An affordable video light perhaps at $25.40 is the Sunpak 55-RL Video Light. And for $8 the Case Logic TBC-3 Camera Bag is yours!

If you got your Digital Rebel, how about the Canon EH-18L Semi-Hard Case for $49?

PS> The links may not work for Internet Explorer users due to temporary technical difficulties with the Quick Linker Amazon widget. To get to the deals simply search for the model name at the Amazon page.

Sneak peak at Staples next week (November 11 thru 17)

Free! Free! Free! Free Epson R280 photo printer after Easy Rebate (submit online) with the purchase of any of the advertised digital cameras in this week's Staples circular.

And we start with the red hot Casio EX-S880 for $250, which includes a bonus 1gb PNY SD card. Red hot because they advertise the red model :)

The Canon A570IS also includes the same free memory card and costs $200. As you are probably well aware brick and mortar prices are usually higher, but if you want something yesterday or have a gift card to burn, then they might be good options.

Anyway, back to the cameras please. The only other camera advertised is the Sony Cybershot S700 with a free 1gb memory card. Now this is interesting, because MemorySticks are more expensive than SD cards, so a free 1gb MemoryStick is a bigger value than 1gb SD. Of course then you will have to buy more MemorySticks if you don't have any, so you don't really gain anything. But I just wanted to point out that a free 1gb Memorystick is a bigger "free value" than a free 1gb SD card. That's all!

Speaking of memory cards, the 2gb Sandisk Ultra II SD is $30, no rebates. SmartParts, which can be easily confused with SmartPants, has a 7" digital photo frame for $70, while their 8" version is $150. But if you really want a big digital photo frame, how about a 15" Smartparts model for $250? Be sure to use pictures with higher resolution on the 15" frame. Put those 12 megapixels to use, atlhough to take full advantage of those, you need a digital photo frame that doesn't exist yet ;-)

And one last thing, the Dell 926 all-in-one photo printer is $90 after Easy Rebate, but you also receive a free one year extended warranty. Not sure why they did this, but hey, if it's free...

Digital camera deals at Fry's this weekend

Fry's calling camera deals. Fry's calling camera deals. Anything good for us? Or it should be the other way round actually :)

    The Canon Quartet
The spotlight deal is the Canon SD1000 with a 1gb Patriot SD memory card for $188 together. At a similar price ($175) you can get the Canon A570IS, a very decent bang for the buck type of camera with image stabilization even! The third Canon offers is the lovely Canon G9 for $450. While this camera is not similar to the old school G-series Canons, it does pretty well if you evaluate it as a stand alone camera - not as the torchbearer of the legendary G-series. The fourth Canon advertised is the lovely Canon SD870 IS, which starts at 28mm wide (bonus points for that) and comes with a free starter kit for $347. No details provided as to what is inside the starter kit, but we can venture a guess and say it's the usual stuff you find in starter kits. Now that was a bold guess :)

    Casio and Sony
Casio has probably the second best deal of the ad, you get the lovely Exilim EX-Z77 along with a free starter kit (details not provided) for $188. That's all! This is not bad folks! And if you prefer an 1/1.8" sensor instead of the usual 1/2.5" or 1.23x" found in the cutesy ultracompacts, the EX-Z1080 with a free starter kit as well is offered at $247. And it's available in silver or black.

Sony has its "old" touchscreen camera, the Sony N2 on sale for $250. It uses a 10mp 1/1.8" sensor, and at $250, it's actually not a bad price, if you can stomach the memory sticks. Not that I am suggesting that you try to eat them :)

    Olympus DSLR kits
The Olympus E510 is advertised in the three standard retail kits, body only for $720, with the 14-45 lens for $810, and with the best value for money kit, the two lens kit for $900. The Olympus DSLR kits usually offer the best value for money with the two lens kit. Assuming of course that you actually need the two lens kit or have plans for the lenses (sell or trade them for other lesnes if you don't need them).

    And some accessories
A 9" digital photo frame with a snooze button (as if) is available for $117. It is an Emprex BDF-109D in case you were wondering :) Also a GoldLantern 10" digital photoframe is at $177 after a $20 mail in rebate. This is model DPF10102.

A USB-based SD/MMC memory card reader is just $4, and that's without any rebates! And this concludes our Fry's segment.

Right now at Amazon, what's moving?

We start with our daily giant Cameta Cameta bundle, this time it costs $310 and includes Olympus Stylus 790 SW 7.1MP Digital Camera (Blue) + xD-Picture Card Reader/Writer + Spare Li-42B Battery for Olympus + Compact Digital Padded Carrying Case . The 790SW is a more stylish version of the 770SW, but its endurance specs have been reduced a little bit.

If you like the Samsung brand and Pentax K-mount lenses, the Samsung GX1S with an 18-55 digital lens is $441. The GX1S is the Samsung version of the Pentax *ist DS2. More from them, the Samsung NV7 is $160 through TigerDirect.

Speaking of DSLRs, here is a very hot lens, in a giant Cameta Camera bundle for $715: Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED-IF AF-S VR [Vibration Reduction] DX Lens + Hoya 72mm UV Haze Protector Glass Filter + CapKeeper Lens Cap Strap + 6-Piece Cleaning Kit - for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras including Nikon D40, D40x, D50, D70, D70s, D80, D100, D200 & D300.

More DSLRs, the Olympus E410 with the two kit lens is just $660. These are the new and smaller kit lenses, that fit the smaller footprint of the E410. Take a look!

And if you crave a film SLR, the Canon EOS Rebel K2 35mm SLR Camera with EF 28 to 90mm II USM Lens is just $188. Film not included!

A slightly older camera, the Canon SD40 is available from J&R World for $160. Yes, that's right $160!

The new Nikon S510 is $239 via Beach Camera. But even better, especially if you love wide angle, the Nikon P50 is just $200. Yes, just two hundred! A poor man's version of the P5000/P5100 if you must - in some ways though.

Want a piece of HP history? The HP R837 is $139 from Beach Camera, while the HP Mz67 is just $143. The fire sale has already began? :-)

Olympus fans, the Olympus FE 280 is just $160, while their Olydak friends have the Kodak M753 at just $114.

PS> Please note that Internet Explorer users may have trouble with the links. If so, just search for the camera name. We recommend using Firefox, Netscape or Opera for this blog.
