The specials start at $60 with the SPF-71E model which is a 7-incher, and continue with the SPF-85H which is an 8-incher for $110. Then at $190 you can get the wireless SPF-85V (8 inches) and the SPF-105P for $200 which has a 10" screen. The same model but wireless, the SPF-105V goes for $270 and has a 12-week backorder backlog.

And if you don't object to sending rebates, you can get the SPF-83V, an 8-inch wireless for $110 after a $40 mail-in rebate.

That's all folks :-)

Two day camera sale at Office Max (Friday and Saturday)

As part of the Black Friday madness, Office Max has set aside some digital camera specials explicitly for Friday and Saturday. To see them all, along with all the other stuff, check the Office Max website.

The headline deal is the Nikon P60, with a FREE Epson Workforce 30 inkjet printer for $120. That's both of them together, NO REBATES! This is as good as it can get for a no-rebate deal! HOT DEAL!

They also feature a trio of affordable digital cameras, starting with the Kodak CD93 for $80 and that includes a bonus 1gb Kodak-branded memory card. This is a 9-megapixel camera with a 3x optical zoom lens a 2.4" LCD. Not bad for the price :-)

Also from Kodak, a "value meal", you can get the Easyshare C813 digital camera and the 7" Quick Touch digital picture frame, together for $130. If you buy them separately, they cost $200 each. Yum???

Last but not least, the Olympus FE-340, with an 8-megapixel sensor, 5x optical zoom, 2.7" LCD and it costs $120. It comes with a free camera starter kit that has the little accessories here and there. Do note that this takes xD memory cards, not SD/SDHC, so if you don't already have xD cards, you would be paying almost twice as much for the same memory.

Memory cards
And speaking of memory, they have some nice memory card specials, at least for brick and mortar stores, you can get a 4gb Sandisk SD card for $10, versus a MemoryStick of the same storage for exactly twice as much. Meanwhile a 2gb Olympus-branded xD card costs $15.

And some picture frames
Last but not least in our report, there are three digital picture frames. Two of them are from Sungale, a 7-inch model for $40 and an 8-inch model with higher resolution for $60. And the 10-inch model is from everyone's favorite brand, Memorex, and it costs $90.

Free 8gb Fujifilm card with purchase of select Fuji cameras

Amazon has a new promotion where it is offering free 8gb Fujifilm SDHC memory cards with the purchase of select Fuji digital cameras. The card is a Fujifilm brand card and goes for $33 on its own. So essentially it's like an extra $30 discount on the pice of the camera, assuming of course you have a use or need for the memory card. (Hint: You can never have too many memory cards!)

The cameras participating in this promotion, which is compatible with the existing Fuji mail-in rebates are as follows:

  • Fuji S100fs for $529 after a $50 Fuji MIR
  • Fuji S8100fd for $253

The camera has a 12-megapixel sensor, along with a 3x optical zoom lens, and a LiIon battery which is what allows it to be so slim, as if it was on a super-model broccoli and celery diet ;-)

Fuji Z100fd: Affordable and stylish for $130

An affordable and stylish Li-Ion-powered camera, the Fuji Z100fd is a poor man's Sony T-series look-a-like, but unlike the Sony, it takes the more affordable and readily available SD and SDHC memory cards. Granted, it's not a Cybershot either. Trade-offs, trade-offs. This is a slightly older model, which is why its price has dropped even more, and why it is getting on the radar of bargain hunters :)

GE A835 for $70 at Tigerdirect

Another nice deal at Tigerdirect, you can get the GE A835 digital camera for just $70 plus shipping. This is an entry-level camera with a 3x optical zoom lens and eight megapixels, along with a 2.5" LCd, and the usual assortment of features one would get from a camera at the entry-point of the digital camera market. Just don't expect this to behave like a Canon Digital Rebel!

2gb Transcend SD memory card for $5

Tigerdirect is offering things big and small as part of their Black Friday sale-a-bration! If you would like to load up on 2gb memory cards, which are great for older digital cameras that do not support SDHC memory cards (4gb or larger), they are offering the 2gb Transcend SD card for $5. Shipping starts at $7, so basically the more you buy, the lower the effective price per card is.

In other words, if you only buy one card, it's not a good deal. If you buy five cards or ten cards, then the shipping price gets divided and becomes less of a factor.

Silver Panasonic LX3 for $400 right now

If you want the Panasonic LX3, and you prefer the silver body instead of the black, or you have no preference on color, then you may want to strongly consider the LX3s at Amazon for $400 and with free shipping and handling.

This camera earned Panasonic a lot of critical acclaim for showing megapixel restraint and instead of jumping to the latest 15-megapixel or 14-megapixel sensor, they instead chose to "work" on a 10-megapixel sensor. That, the style, and the 24mm wide lense among other things.

Colorful Fuji Z20fd (blue) for $130 now!

If you like Fuji Finepix cameras and you love the color blue, and you only want to spend $130, you might be interested in the blue Fuji Z20fd offered at that price, and with free shipping by Amazon.com. This is Amazon selling it at this price, not a 3rd party seller or someone in the marketplace. A good price for a cutesy camera!

Samsung BL1050 kit for $110

Amazon has a nice clearance deal for $110 and with free shipping. The Samsung BL1050 kit includes the camera (10mp sensor, 5x zoom lens), a camera case and a 1gb SD memory card. This is sold and shipped by Amazon itself, not a 3rd party!

Nikon D40 bundle for $450 (with lens and extra items)

If you want a DSLR starter kit without breaking the bank, Cameta Cameras has a deal for you at Amazon. They are offering the Nikon D40 with the 18-55mm DX lens, along with a few bonus items for $447 plus $19 shipping.

So apart from the D40 DSLR and the 18-55 DX lens, you also get a Nikon-branded SLR bag, a 4gb SDHC memory card, a card reader, a cleaning kit, and a couple of other small accessories which you can see below and also at the Amazon product page linked here.

Panasonic FX500 down to $270

If you like a compact digital camera with a nice 3" touch-screen LCD on the back, but also a relatively compact size and relatively stylish, then you might be interested in the 15-megapixel Panasonic FX500, offered by J&R World on Amazon.com for $270 plus $7 shipping. The camera is available in black (pictured below) or shiny silver.

Better yet for fans of wide-angle, this has a 5x optical zoom lens, that starts at 25mm, which is fairly wide among fixed-lens digital cameras. The sensor is the popular 10-megapixel sensors used by a large number of new cameras that came out in 2008.

Canon A460 blue for just $80

If you are looking for a cheap camera but also want to have a well-known brand, we have a compromise for you, an older Canon Powershot, the blue Canon A460 for $80 plus $7 shipping offered by J&R World at Amazon.com. This camera has a five megapixel sensor and a 4x optical zoom lens. If you are not planning to make prints at 8x10 or larger, then this is not a bad idea. You could also make 8x10 prints, but not if you plan on cropping heavily.

4gb PNY SDHC for just $6 (one day only!)

Today only, J & R World of New York is offering the 4gb PNY SDHCicon for $6 plus shipping. This is an awesome deal! Because you do have to pay shipping, you can make the most out of this deal if you want to buy a handful of memory cards. Not just one.

If you are planning to give digital cameras as XMas presents, why not stock up on memory cards and include a couple with each camera purchase? Especially if you are buying a camera for a person who does not have any SD/SDHC memory cards. You want them to unwrap their camera and start shooting and shooting right away, not wait for the shops to open so they can run and get a memory card!

Amazon Camera and Photo outlet

If you are a bargain hunter and you prefer to get slightly older cameras that have been thoroughly "Vetted" by the photographers and reviewers alike, then you might be interested in the Amazon Camera and Photo outlet. The outlet features digital cameras, but also lots of other high-tech products, related and unrelated to photography.

Of course all these are also accessible through the Amazon.com website, it's just that the Outlet organizes together for easier "outlet bargain hunting" :-)

Vivitar 285HV auto flash for around $90

A couple of reputable 3rd party retailers at Amazon are offering the Vivitar 285HV automatic flash for under $100. You can get it shipped from either 17th Street Photo or Adorama for about $90.

This is a vertical bounce flash, that takes four AA batteries, has a range of up to 70 feet (21 meters), and a couple of other features of interest.

There are 33 customer reviews, and if you are not familiar with it, be sure to check out the top two spotlight reviews as they cover a lot of ground.

Nikon D90 body only down to $883

If you love the D90 for its photographic features, or if you are intrigued and tempted by the first DSLR to offer a real video-recording mode, then $883 is all you have to spend to get the Nikon D90 body only. Free shipping as well as this is sold and shipped by the great Amazon.com.

Lens is not included, but because the camera does not require a focus motor to be on the lens, you can use old and older lenses with such modern-day luxuries like auto-focusing :-)

Sony W150 for just $210

If you are a fan of the most reputable online dealer in digital cameras, B&H Photo, and also a fan of the Cybershot W150, you are reading the right post, because B&H is offering it for $210 and with free shipping. Nikon P6000 down to $381 at Amazon

Reputable third party sellers at Amazon are currently offering the Nikon P6000 for under $400. The best price right now is $381 with free shipping from Adorama. The price may be different by the time you read this, as Amazon.com is a dynamic market and prices go up and down all the time.

The P6000 is the most advanced Nikon non-DSLR since 2004 when Nikon made a trio of 8-megapixel 2/3" sensor cameras. This one has *gasp* 14-megapixels on a 1/1.72" sensor, along with a 4x optical zoom lens that start at 28mm, something that will certainly thrill fans of wide-angle on compact digital cameras.

But it has its issues too, so be sure to read reviews, especially if you are a regular user of the RAW format. There are more than a handful of reviews out already, so you can get a pretty good ...picture.

$10 off and free shipping at TinyPrints.com

If you are interested in making small, fashionable, stylish and professional tiny prints, they we have extra incentive for you! Samsung TL34hd for $139 if you win the Customers Vote

Amazon has started a brand new Customer's Vote 2008, where we, the Amazon users, vote on six rounds of favorite deals, each one featuring three different products. People who vote in the majority will have a chance to buy the product they voted for, for the bargain price listed. However, there are only 500 units available at this price, so the chances for this happening for the average person are low. But since this is free to play, there is nothing to lose.

So of camera interest, in Round #3, one of the options is the Samsung TL34hd offered at $139. It currently has the lowest number of votes, about 11%, because it is competing with a 46" 1080p HDTV ($700) and a Sony BluRay disc player ($100). Needless to say, most people are going for the HDTV and the BluRay player.

$100 camera deal: Kodak M863

If you don't mind strolling by your local brick and mortar store, you can get the Kodak M863 for $100 at Office Depot. The price is good only in-store. The only price is $140. It's one way to get people inside the store, as opposed to bargain-sniping from a computer.

To find your nearest ODP stores, be sure to check the Office Depot website.icon

Best of Camera Deals at Best Buy

As we dive into the new Sunday paper, we undigg the Best-Buy circular ad for the next four days, and spotlight some of the most interesting camera offerings.

DSLR offerings
Nikon is having a little bit of a discount week to celebrate Thanksgiving, and even brick and mortar is participating. You can have the D60 with the standard kit lens for $575. Not a bad price. And if you want to add the 55-200mm lens with a bonus DVD set and Nikon-branded SLR bag, you only pay an extra $150. So for $725 you get the Nikon D60, two lenses, two educational DVDs, and an SLR bag. Not bad for a starting system.

Neither Ashton Kutcher, nor his undies (ref: TV ad) are included with this promotion ;-)

Compact Temptations?
If you are looking to make a starter camera gift for the casual photographer, the Kodak M1033, in fashionable red, is bundled with an extra battery and a leather case for $150. Not bad at all. All you need is add a 2gb or 4gb SDHC memory card, and you have a digital camera starter kit. An affordable yet practical holiday season gift.

A similar bundle, but instead centered around the Coolpix S550 is offered for $170. This is a 10-megapixel camera with a 5x optical zoom lens, but note that it does not start at wide angle.

And one last deal worthy of a mention because it touches the magical mystical threshold of $100, the blue Fuji J12 with a bonus 1gb SD memory card is yours for $100. This is obviously an entry-level digital camera, and could be a good gift for an absolute beginner who typically loses or breaks things within a few weeks or months :-)

Panasonic TZ4 under $190 now

If you have a soft spot for the Panasonic TZ4, you can get it for under $190 at Amazom.com, offered there by reputable dealers like J&R World and Vanns of Montana.

The TZ4 is the smaller cousin of the TZ5, and it shares a lot of features, but it has some small differences. The price difference of about $40 maybe enough for some photographers to go with the TZ4 instead of the Tz5.

Both belong to the new segment of fun and compact superzooms, that are not as big as clumsy as the super-zooms of years past.

Olympus FE-20 for just $100

Yeeha! It's not even Black Friday yet, but you can get the Olympus FE-20icon, in black color, from Radio Shack for $100, either online or in-store!

This is a nice price, but do note that compact Olympus digital cameras take xD memory cards only, which means that if you don't already have xD memory cards, you have to buy some, and they cost more than SD/SDHC, plus very few other devices have any use for xD cards sadly. Olympus has been stubborn in this, but this doesn't matter if you don't care or if you already have xD cards :-)

The camera itself has an eight megapixel sensor, with a three times optical zoom lenses, a lithium-ion battery (which is why it is so slim), along with a 2.7" LCD display. It also has other features, such as face detection, video mode, and things like that.

If you are looking to get started with Micro Four Thirds, the Olympus E510 2-lens kit for about $560 may be as good of a start as any. You get sensor-shift stabilization, and you get two lenses that cover the basic focal range for getting started into the system.

This is ideal for people who don't have any existing lenses, and they want to start afresh.

Canon Digital Rebel XS kit for under $470

You may have thought the day would never come that you could get a brand new same-year Digital Rebel DSLR model for under $470, but the day have arrived DSLR fans. This may sound a bit Pink Floyd-ish, but you get the jist of it all.

So with that in mind, the D-Rebel XS with the 18-55 IS EF-S lens is currently selling for $465 by reputable 3rd party sellers at Amazon.com.

So if you are on the fence, this is as good as any of an offer to get started into the Canon EOS system. A smooth intro and once you get accustomed to it and you are ready to move to a more advanced camera, you can keep the XS as your back up, give (or trade it) with a friend or relative, or eBay it. But as a gear-aholic, you will probably keep it :-)

Sony T2 for $200 (ideal for those who hate MemoryStick)

If you hate memory sticks but you love the design of the Sony T-series, then there is a compromise, the Sony Cybershot T2, which has 4gb of on-board memory, thus making the use of memorysticks optional. So you can have this hot camera, available in multiple trendy and fashionable colors, and at the same time, not own a single memorystick chip. That is if 4 gigabytes of the on-board memory is enough for you, and considering the number of megapixels and market positioning of this camera, it should be plenty if you are planning on using it in urban and suburban areas with access to computers and the internets and such. Now if you are planning to use it while treking in the Himalayas, that's a whole "nuther" story!

The last few days the Panasonic TZ5 has been all over the place price-wise. So when you find it at a good price, it may be a good idea to pin it down. Radio Shack specials this week

Diving into this week's Radio Shack circular advertisement, we find the following items promoted: The cute and multi-color Casio EX-S10 for $200. This is a camera with the popular 10mp 1/2.3" sensor, and with a 3x optical zoom lens, 2.7" display, face detection, YouTube mode, slim and stylish body, and more. All that for $200!

A more affordable option, but still colorful, is the Samsung L200 for $130. It also features a 10mp 1/2.33" sensor with a 3x optical zoom lens and 2.5" LCD display.

RadioShack

And now to a hybrid, Kodak's Zi6 is now offered at $180. This can shoot 720p and has a 2.4" preview screen, and things like that.

On the accessories front, you can get a 4gb Sandisk SDHC memory card for $20, and a Digital Trends memory card reader that even readers cellphone SIM cards for just $13.

Camera deals at Office Max

A new circular ad for Office Max is hiding in your newspaper! Check your paper or your local store!

We start with the Nikon D40 with 18-55 lens being offered at the very competitive price of $450. And that's not all, Office Max is throwing in a free camera bag. Some stores may be offering a LowePro, while the website is offeering a free Case Logic camera case. The free camera case offer is good until November 15.

We continue with the Sony Cybershot S750 going for just $110. This is a great price y'all! Of course this camera requires a Memory Stick, so if you don't already have Memory Sticks, this will add to your costs, since MemorySticks cost more than SD/SDHC memory cards which are available for less.

At $120, we find the Kodak C913, which uses the rarely used 9mp 1/2.5" sensor, and has your typical 3x zoom lens and AA batteries. But that's not all, Office Max is throwing as a bonus a AA/AAA deluxe charger set. Normally not a big deal, but when you are buying a $120 camera, percentage wise, this is a good deal.

If you are not a big fan of AA batteries, Kodak's new M-series is leading the way, and the Easyshare M1063 can be yours for $140 with a free 2gb SD memory card.

Next up, at $160, we find the Olympus FE-340 with an 8mp sensor, and a 5x optical zoom lens. It has a 2.7" LCD display, but beware, it only takes xD memory cards!

No Rebates 468x60

Moving along, we find two Canons, the AA-based A1000 IS, which by the way does not offer manual exposure, for $160, and also the SD1100 IS for $180. This is a cutesy Elph and available in multiple fashionable colors.

But if you insist on AA batteries, and want a camera slightly above the entry-level, the Nikon Coolpix P60 can be yours for $150. However, do note, that unlike the P50, this camera does not start at 28mm wide!

Staying with Coolpixies, the S550 can be yours for $180. This is a LiIon-based camera, perhaps not as "cutesy" as the Elph models, but it's a cross between the "ugly" AA cameras and the cutesy LiIons ;-)
