In-stock now: Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 SP AF XR Di LD (and a few reviews)

OneCall via Amazon has the Tamron Autofocus 28-75mm f/2.8 SP AF XR Di LD Aspherical (IF) lens for Nikon DSLR Cameras with Built-In AF Motor available for $400. But ther's only a few left in-stock at the moment so hurry up if you need this lens soon!

A brief history of Nikon DSLRs and built-in AF motors
As you may know, the entry-level Nikon DSLRs (D40, D40x, D60) expect the lenses to have built-in focus motors, so luxuries such as auto-focus are not available with lenses without built-in focus motors. This has caused the third party lens manufacturers grief and they scrambled to add focus motors to their lenses to make them attractive for the D40/D40x/D60 DSLR users.

Reviews of the Tamron 28-75mm f2.8
These are reviews of the standard variation of the lens, since the one with the built-in AF motor is brand new and very similar, if not identical - other than the built-in AF motor of course. Here are some reviews:

  1. Bob Atkins - photography guru
  2. Nikonians.org - specialize on all things Nikon
  3. The Digital Picture - specializes on all things Canon
  4. WhichLens.com
  5. SLR Gear - an "IPO" from Imaging Resource
  6. Fred Miranda user reviews
